Starting December 5, American Airlines will resume flights from La Romana to Miami, with tickets available for purchase beginning May 20. This move marks the airline's expansion in the Dominican Republic, making La Romana its fifth destination in the country for this winter season. Daily flights will operate between La Romana International Airport (LRM) and Miami International Airport (MIA) using the reliable Airbus A319 fleet.
Oliver Bojos, Regional Manager of American Airlines in the Central Caribbean, expressed his excitement: “We are pleased to continue strengthening our presence in the Dominican Republic with our highly anticipated return to La Romana. Next year, we will be celebrating our 50th anniversary in the country with a record operation, reaffirming our commitment to the Dominican Republic, our local team, and our loyal customers, who year after year choose American as their preferred airline.”
American Airlines has ambitious plans for the Caribbean nation, aiming to operate up to 25 daily flights on peak days to five key destinations: La Romana (LRM), Puerto Plata (POP), Punta Cana (PUJ), Santiago (STI), and Santo Domingo (SDQ). This expansion represents a 5% increase in flights and 6% more seats compared to its record winter operation last year.
Passengers can purchase tickets for this new service starting May 20 on aa.com or through the American Airlines mobile app.

La Romana Casa de Campo International Airport
Located on the picturesque east coast of the Dominican Republic, La Romana Casa de Campo International Airport is more than just an arrivals and departures terminal. It serves as a gateway to the Caribbean’s charm, welcoming travelers with the warm sea breeze and the vibrant rhythm of bachata.
Since its opening in 2000, the airport has experienced significant growth, becoming a vital hub for air connections to the country’s east coast. It also provides access to some of the Caribbean’s most stunning destinations, including Casa de Campo, Punta Cana, Bayahibe, and Saona Island, where white sandy beaches and crystal-clear waters await exploration.
