OSCAR: Behind this brand is a dynamic spirit: the painter and artist OSCAR

Already in his early years he was expelled from the confines of his homeland to the Dominican Republic, where he has lived ever since and is open to impulse, pursuing his artistic work with passion and spontaneity.

For him, painting is an outlet to bring experiences and impressions of his African origin into pictorial form. He is inspired by encounters with people, foreign environments, smells, flavors and colors, without forgetting the Haitian culture. A small shack in Pueblo Bayahibe serves as his first studio, in seclusion without electricity, calm and clarity nurture his drive for artistic creation.

His works are not planned, they are not intentional. They accumulate in energy fields and are performed in a playful act and he does not think about how to implement an idea. Inspiration comes when the material and dedication meet. For me he feels like a channel through which the work is condensed.

His passion for color and materials is displayed in a range of products. They are made by hand, carried by a story and inspired by friendship and commitment.

His current center of life is the small fishing village and the large holiday resort Bayhibe. Here, in this natural landscape, the artist lives in seclusion with his family.

Recently, with his meager savings, he managed to open a small store in the center of Bayahibe. He has now opened his souvenir shop very close to the small fishing port and right in front of the "Bayahibe" hotel and hopes to bring his high quality crafts to his customers here.

Haitian art is the reflection of an amalgamation of traditions and influences, it highlights the cultural, historical and ethnic miscegenation of the African root with the American and European ones; without forgetting an important religious influence of various kinds.
